Middlewoods of Newington honored their team members for excellence!

The community gathered on November 18th for a small group ceremony to recognize team members for their years of service to Middlewoods and United Methodist Homes (UMH), the senior living provider organization that manages the community.
Tor Alston, Dining Services Associate of fifteen years, was honored for his service at the event, along with Jennifer Casparino, Madelin De Jesus and Stacy Kesl, who were also recognized for milestones of five years of service.
In addition, two outstanding team members were recognized for the UMH “Values in Action” award, an award presented each year to team members who reflect the organization’s five core values of Respect, Excellence, Spirituality, Collaboration, and Stewardship in an extraordinary way. This year’s Values in Action winners, Laura Healy and Denetra Smith, were selected for their incredible commitment to the Mission and Values of United Methodist Homes and praised by their supervisors and Executive Director, Stacy Kesl.
Laura is the Activities Director at Middlewoods of Newington. Reflecting on the impact Laura has on the Middlewoods community, Kesl explained, “During the COVID-19 crisis, Laura did an incredible job adapting to the challenges of engaging our residents and redesigning the entire activity program to meet the requirements of social distancing. Her creative ideas, and ability to stay calm during difficult times are just a few reasons why we are so grateful to have her on our team.”
Denetra, or “Dee” as she is known by the residents, is a certified nursing assistant who has worked at the Newington community since 2011. “There is no one like Dee,” shared Kesl. “She has been recognized by families and residents for singing while helping someone get ready for their day or when joining in on activities. Her laugh is contagious, and she has a great sense of humor to go along with it. She lights up our entire community with her warm personality and her caring spirit.”
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!
